My Top 5 Most Frequently Asked Questions

Session Information

January 20, 2024

The key to any good relationship is good communication. I aim to provide that with all of my clients. Not to toot my own horn, but I almost never have unhappy clients. I believe a big part of this is because I effectively communicate the type of photographer I am and what my clients can expect when they work with me. Because I often get the same questions, I created a FAQ page on my site (check it out here!). Read below for answers to the top five questions I get asked!

  1. What type of photography do you do?
    • I am a family, newborn, maternity, couple and senior portrait photographer. In 2023, I began to dabble in fine art school portrait photography and I hope to grow that side of my business in 2024. I also have lofty goals of being delving into the world of branding photography in the future so stay tuned for that!
  2. How much do you charge and what does that include?
    • My current 2024 session fee is $800 (plus WA state sales tax) for all regular portrait sessions. I require 50% of the session fee at booking and the remaining 50% is due a few days before your session date. Please note — I am ALWAYS happy to work with clients if a longer payment plan is needed. I understand that professional photography is an investment. I believe it to be an extremely worthy one and I want everyone to be able to enjoy and experience it.
    • I am an all inclusive photographer so that fee includes both the session and digital files for download. New in 2024 (and something I am REALLY excited about), I am also including a complimentary 10×8 album in that session fee. I can’t stand one more year of photos dying on devices, I want them off and in your hands! You’re welcome.
  3. What should we wear to our session?
    • For family sessions, my big tip is this: mamas, choose your outfit first (something you like and feel comfortable and GOOD in) and then build everyone else’s outfits around yours. Simply put, mama needs to feel good in her outfit and love how she looks in the final product. Most often, moms are the memory keepers and they deserve to feel beautiful!
    • Choose complimentary colors that aren’t too matchy-matchy and avoid logos, distracting patterns and neon colors. Pops of color can be fun and layering pieces adds texture. Don’t over think it and remember… what you wear DOES matter but it isn’t everything. Not even close. I’m going to capture all kinds of love and fun no matter what you wear. Having said that, you have spent time and money investing in a professional photography experience – you won’t regret putting a little extra effort into your clothing. Have fun with it!
  4. Where do photo sessions take place?
    • The vast majority of my sessions take place outdoors. I have a go-to list of favorite locations and I try to add one or two spots each year. These are locations I am very familiar with and I know the light well and how to best use it for your session. Together, we can choose whichever one of these locations works best for you!
    • Newborn sessions are done exclusively indoors either in-home or in-studio. I do love in-home family sessions as well, they are always fun and provide a unique dynamic to your session.
  5. Do you offer Mini-Sessions (yes, believe it or not, this is one of my top most frequently asked questions!)?
    • I do offer a limited number of mini-sessions once or twice a year. In 2024, I will be scaling back on mini-sessions and they will be evolving more into MICRO-SESSIONS. I highly recommend you join my email list as this will be the primary way I communicate micro session information and booking details.
